Dhaka, Mar 28 (V7N) – With a 9-day government holiday declared for Eid-ul-Fitr, people from northern Bangladesh have begun their journey home. Despite a surge in traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail-Sirajganj highway, there have been no major traffic jams as of Friday morning.

Tangail: High Traffic, No Congestion

From morning until 10 a.m., the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway remained free of gridlock. Although the number of vehicles doubled, traffic flowed smoothly.

Passenger buses, trucks, pickups, motorcycles, and private cars were all actively transporting travelers.

Highway police, district police, and army patrols were seen monitoring the situation.

The Chandra to Elenga section of the highway, which has four lanes, helped manage the flow. However, concerns remain about potential congestion on the 13.5-kilometer Elenga to Jamuna Bridge stretch, where roadwork is ongoing.

Tangail Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman assured that law enforcement is on high alert and working round the clock to prevent traffic jams.

Sirajganj: Smooth Travel Despite Increased Vehicle Pressure

Similarly, the Sirajganj section of the Dhaka-Bogra highway has seen heavy traffic but no jams.

The four-lane Dhaka-Rangpur Highway has significantly eased congestion, ensuring a comfortable Eid journey.

The Jamuna Bridge West Highway, a key route for 22 districts, is handling increased vehicle flow without disruption.

18,000-22,000 vehicles pass through this highway daily, with the number rising sharply during Eid.

Md. Faridul Islam, Highway Police Inspector, confirmed that despite higher vehicle pressure, traffic is flowing smoothly. Over 750 law enforcement personnel, including district police, highway police, and Armed Police Battalion (APBN) members, are working in three shifts to ensure an efficient travel experience.

Authorities remain cautiously optimistic about maintaining smooth traffic conditions as more people hit the roads. While the Elenga to Jamuna Bridge stretch remains a concern, ongoing police monitoring and traffic management efforts aim to keep disruptions minimal.

Travelers are hopeful that this year's Eid journey will be one of the most comfortable in recent years.
