Bangkok, Apr 02 (V7N) – Bangladesh is looking forward to the meeting between Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit, Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin has said.

Speaking to reporters in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, the Foreign Secretary emphasized that Bangladesh sees this interaction as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss important regional issues.

The BIMSTEC summit officially began today, Wednesday, in Bangkok, bringing together leaders and top officials from the seven member states of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). The first day of the conference started with a meeting of top officials from the participating nations, where Md. Jasim Uddin represented Bangladesh. Before the meeting commenced, a moment of silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the recent earthquake.

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to attend the summit tomorrow, Thursday.

The BIMSTEC member states include Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The summit aims to enhance economic cooperation, connectivity, and security collaboration among these nations.
