Dhaka, Apr 28 (V7N) — In the face of widespread student protests and a hunger strike demanding reforms in the Public Service Commission (PSC), the 46th BCS compulsory written examination, scheduled for May 8, has been postponed.
Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, announced the decision in front of the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University on Sunday (April 27). Members of the PSC delegation, including Mohammad Aminul Islam and Mohammad Nazmul Amin Majumder, were present during the announcement.
Following the assurance from the advisor and PSC officials, the protesting students ended their hunger strike.
Earlier in the evening, students and job seekers from across the country gathered at the Raju Sculpture to demand the implementation of an 8-point reform agenda for the PSC, punishment for those involved in question paper leaks, and solidarity with the hunger strikers.
In response to the escalating situation, Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and PSC representatives engaged in discussions with the protestors at the Dhaka University Journalists' Association premises.
Prior to the dialogue, a group of job-seeking students had blocked the Shahbagh intersection at around 6:30 PM, bringing traffic to a standstill as they intensified their call for urgent PSC reforms.
