Dhaka, May 06 (V7N) – For the first time, Bangladesh and Italy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the legal migration framework between the two nations. The agreement was signed in Dhaka on Tuesday (May 6) by Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Italian Minister for Expatriate Welfare, who is currently visiting Bangladesh.
The MoU outlines key initiatives, including:

Increasing visa quotas for both seasonal and non-seasonal workers,

Establishing joint working teams to facilitate coordination,
-
Setting up technical training centers to prepare workers for overseas employment, and
-
Accelerating the visa processing system.
During the signing ceremony, proposals were made to:

Expand employment opportunities in Italy for Bangladeshi workers,

Increase the number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students, and
-
Remove Bangladesh from Italy’s list of 'high-risk' countries.
The advisor also reflected on his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, noting that discussions were held regarding the extension of Aqama validity for Bangladeshi expatriates. He further added that talks are ongoing with Jordan regarding the potential for sending male workers, and confirmed that undocumented Bangladeshis in Jordan are now being offered the opportunity to regularize their status.
Officials stated that this MoU will play a pivotal role in promoting a more transparent, fair, and efficient immigration system between Bangladesh and Italy, enhancing both countries' economic and labor market cooperation.
