The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low over the same region.

“It is likely to intensify further,” said a Met Office bulletin on Wednesday.


The southwest monsoon has advanced into Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet, and Mymensingh divisions, as well as the eastern part of Dhaka division, it said.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds, are likely at most places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, according to the bulletin.

Rain has also been predicted at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy falls expected at places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions.

Day temperatures may fall by 1–2°C, and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country within 24 hours commencing at 9am on Wednesday.
