Dhaka, June 24 (V7N) — Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman has said that the Olympic Day Run 2025 is being organized to promote brotherhood, harmony, unity, and discipline among the people.

He made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the event at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday morning.

General Waqar-uz-Zaman emphasized that the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) will continue to organize various sports and physical activity programs throughout the year to encourage sports culture in the country. He mentioned that such programs are already being arranged in different divisional cities to engage the wider population.

Highlighting the need for greater sports participation, the Army Chief said, “Sports should be spread across the country and physical exercise should be continued. The number of playing fields in Dhaka is decreasing day by day, leaving fewer spaces for children and youth to engage in sports. That is why such initiatives will continue.”

The Olympic Day Run is part of the global celebration of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), aimed at promoting the Olympic spirit and encouraging active lifestyles.
