Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has alleged that fascist groups and neighboring countries attempted to destabilize Bangladesh by exploiting the Durga Puja celebrations and the Khagrachari incident. However, he said that all such plots were ultimately foiled and the Puja ended peacefully across the country.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday (October 5), the Home Affairs Advisor said,

“Beards were applied to the faces of demons in more than 793 mandaps. In India, similar depictions were made in the style of Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus. It was part of the same formula.”

He claimed that the conspiracy aimed to disturb communal harmony in the Chittagong Hill Tracts by raising false rape allegations and by provocative depictions during Durga Puja. Jahangir Alam added that the government is investigating the incidents of altering demon faces in mandaps.

At the same time, he blamed India for the Khagrachari incident but did not respond directly to the statement made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. “Journalists know better in this matter,” he remarked, adding that as a patriot, he wanted to hear the reaction of the media.
