Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N) – Education Advisor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has announced that work is underway to publish a white paper on corruption and irregularities in the Ministry of Education. The report will expose issues such as the construction of unnecessary educational institutions under the previous government, corruption in teacher recruitment, inflated GPA-5 results despite poor education quality, and financial and infrastructural irregularities influenced by political considerations during MPO enlistment.

He made these remarks while addressing a program marking World Teachers’ Day at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday (October 5).

Advisor Abrar said that efforts have already begun to develop accurate and standard textbooks and to formulate new rules for the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). In addition, a search committee has been formed to oversee the appointment of university vice-chancellors.

He added that the Education Ministry is working tirelessly to restore and modernize the country’s education system following the coup. “Our goal is to ensure quality, inclusive, science-based, and humane education. We want to equip the young generation with the skills needed to compete globally through the spread of modern science and technical education,” he said.

Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar also emphasized that developing critical thinking is just as important as acquiring textbook knowledge. During his address, he paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Mystone tragedy.
