Dhaka, Oct 07 (V7N) – The Conscience ship, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) headed to Gaza, is expected to enter the so-called ‘red zone’ or dangerous area by the early hours of Wednesday (October 8). This update comes from Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam, who is on board the vessel.

In a Facebook post, Shahidul Alam wrote that the Conscience ship is continuing its journey despite the fact that all previous ships of the Sumud Flotilla, an earlier FFC initiative, were seized by the Israeli army.

“Most members on the Conscience ship are journalists and doctors, two professional groups that Israel has historically targeted,” Alam noted. “Our journey is a protest against Israel’s targeted killings and blockade of Gaza.”

He added that the ship is slightly behind schedule because it waited for the slower boats, called the ‘Thousand Madelines’, to join the flotilla. “We are currently about 70 nautical miles from the red zone—the area where previous Sumud Flotilla ships were illegally detained by Israeli forces,” he said.

Shahidul Alam expressed hope that the flotilla will reach the red zone tomorrow morning, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian and professional solidarity mission of the voyage.
