Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N) — Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Forest, Environment and Climate Change, said on Tuesday that the government will sit together to decide on the national elections and referendum, and the decision will be announced shortly.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, she said the political parties were initially asked to resolve disagreements themselves and inform the government. “Since seven days have passed without any agreement, the government will now take a stand,” she added.

Hasan emphasized that the government has a responsibility to overcome deadlock and will consider the views of political parties and public expectations in reaching its decision. “There is no point in imposing a decision. The entire government will sit together and announce the decision soon,” she said.

The advisor also assured that the government’s door is open to all parties and stressed that fair and peaceful elections will be ensured. “All kinds of cooperation will be provided to the Election Commission to ensure a level playing field. If there are clear allegations, the government will take action,” she added.

She further noted that while attempts have been made to create unrest, the interim government is firmly moving toward the elections scheduled for February, and measures will be taken to prevent any disruption.
