Dhaka, Nov 17 (V7N) – Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has said that despite recent concerns, the country will not face any crisis in the onion market as the supply situation remains stable.
He made the remarks on Monday while inaugurating the Jute Products Fair in the capital.
The advisor said an “uncomfortable situation” has arisen over onion prices, but the government is working to stabilise the market.
“The information and data we have received show that a large volume of onions is being released into the market,” he said.
According to him, onion prices at the regional level are still within a tolerable range, though prices in the capital remain comparatively higher.
He added that the process of importing onions is currently underway to further ease supply pressure and ensure market stability.
