Dhaka, Nov 17 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has directed all District Administrators (DCs) to carry out their responsibilities with absolute honesty, neutrality, and integrity during the upcoming parliamentary election and national referendum, calling it an election to “protect the country.”

He gave the instructions at a meeting with administrators from all 64 districts, including 50 newly appointed DCs, held at the Chief Advisor’s Office on Monday morning.

Terming the upcoming polls “not a traditional election,” Dr. Yunus said this election is far more consequential than forming a government for five years.
“This election is different. It includes a referendum. The nation has seen many farcical elections, and this time everyone has a role in erasing that memory,” he said.

He described the process as an extension of the recent mass uprising.
“This is the election after the mass uprising—an election to complete that uprising. The nation’s direction for the next century will be decided through this,” he added.

Emphasizing the crucial role of DCs, the Chief Advisor said there is no scope for failure.
“Through this election, the nation will be reborn, and the Deputy Commissioners will act as the midwives of that rebirth,” he stated.

The meeting was attended by Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, and Law Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul. The session was moderated by Cabinet Division Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid.
