Dhaka, Nov 20 (V7N) — Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has attributed the country’s lagging steel industry to unscrupulous entrepreneurs and internal inefficiencies, urging honest businessmen to take the lead in resolving the crisis.

He made the remarks at the inauguration of the three-day Metal Expo on Thursday afternoon. The Advisor highlighted that the steel industry, with a total capacity of 20 to 25 thousand crore taka, is currently utilizing only 4 to 5 thousand crore taka, leaving a significant portion of its potential untapped. He assured that the government is exploring ways to fully utilize the industry’s capacity.

The Metal Expo, jointly organized by four sectoral organizations, is expected to attract more than 5,000 buyers, visitors, and industry professionals over its three-day run.
