Dhaka, Nov 21 (V7N) — Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of lives caused by Friday's earthquake across the country. The message was issued through the Principal Advisor’s press wing.
In his condolence message, Dr. Yunus extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the victims' souls. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the disaster.
Dr. Yunus said the government has taken steps to closely monitor the situation and compile a comprehensive report of the damage. All relevant departments have been instructed to intensify rescue operations in affected areas. He urged citizens to face the situation with patience and courage.
According to the message, at least five people, including a child, have been confirmed dead, while around 100 others have been injured. The injured include Dhaka University students and factory workers in Gazipur and Narsingdi, the epicenter of the earthquake.
