Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N)- Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called on several experts to assess and understand earthquake risks across the country. Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan shared this information during a RAJUK discussion on Monday afternoon, focusing on preparations and measures to mitigate earthquake risks in the capital.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said the risk review and assessment is expected to be completed within six months to a year. A specialized, area-based consulting firm will be tasked with conducting the survey to identify potential risks. She emphasized that the survey should be completed quickly by enhancing RAJUK’s capacity.

During the discussion, Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan added that steps are being taken to increase RAJUK’s capacity and that work is underway to form a trust to manage earthquake-related risks.
