Dhaka, Nov 26 (V7N) — Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been appointed through a lottery system in three categories, ensuring no deserving officer was excluded, said Home Affairs Advisor (retired) Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official notification on Wednesday (November 26) confirming the new appointments. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, the advisor said that new SPs have been appointed in 18 out of 64 districts, while others who were already serving in various districts will receive their postings soon.
He added that, similar to SP appointments, officers-in-charge (OCs) will also be posted to different districts in the near future.
During the briefing, the advisor said that a new policy is being formulated regarding fertilizer distribution, ensuring no political influence in dealer appointments. He also assured that although gas prices may rise, the price of fertilizer will remain unchanged.
On the onion market situation, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that new onions are entering the market, and therefore there is no possibility of price hikes. He noted that import permissions have not been granted, as protecting the interests of local farmers remains a priority.
