Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – The interim government is prepared to issue a travel pass within a day if BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman wishes to return to Bangladesh, said Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain. He added that the government is unaware of Tarique Rahman’s current status in London but noted it would be unusual for another country to prevent him from returning home.

The advisor made the remarks during a session titled ‘Bangladesh’s Foreign Policy: Defining a Relevant Role in a Changing World’, organized by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the Press Club on Sunday afternoon.

Touhid Hossain also commented on regional relations, saying that neighboring India is still adjusting to the changes in Bangladesh following the July uprising. He expressed hope that working relations between the two countries will normalize soon.

Regarding former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, he noted that India is aware of his presence in the country but has not provided any official information, and no formal discussion on his return has taken place.

On the Sheikh Hasina issue, the advisor said that even if India does not return her, Dhaka-Delhi relations will not be affected, although Bangladesh expects her return as soon as possible following her conviction.

He further highlighted that unlike the previous Awami League government, which did not maintain normal relations with Pakistan, the interim government is actively seeking to normalize diplomatic relations with Islamabad.
