Dhaka, Dec 02 (V7N) — Dr. Asif Nazrul, legal adviser to the interim government, has announced significant progress on the long-awaited Disappearance Ordinance along with several major reform initiatives.

In a post from his verified Facebook account on Monday (December 1), he said the Disappearance Ordinance was officially gazetted at 11 pm, marking an important step toward addressing enforced disappearances in the country.

Dr. Nazrul highlighted that, just days earlier, another landmark measure — the Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance — had been enacted to strengthen the independence of the judiciary. He further revealed that amendments to the Human Rights Commission Act are expected “within the next few days.”

According to the adviser, 90 percent of the government’s judicial reform targets have already been completed. He added that the judiciary is actively contributing to the swift finalization of both the Police Reform Act and the Anti-Corruption Reform Ordinance, which are currently in progress.

These reforms form part of the interim government’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and institutional independence across the justice system.
