Dhaka, Dec 29 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday emphasized the need for a strategic approach to resolving border issues with neighboring countries, while stressing heightened vigilance to prevent criminals or terrorists from escaping Bangladesh through border routes.

He made the remarks while speaking at a reception marking Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day at Peelkhana in the capital on Monday morning.

“The border must be managed strategically in coordination with neighboring countries. Smugglers operating along the border must be brought under the law, and we must remain vigilant so that no criminal or terrorist can flee the country through border areas,” the Home Affairs Advisor said.

He urged BGB members to perform their duties with honesty, professionalism, and integrity, noting that safeguarding the border is a critical national responsibility.

Referring to the upcoming national elections, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the BGB has a major role to play in ensuring a peaceful and festive electoral environment. He expressed hope that the force would carry out its responsibilities properly to help deliver an acceptable and credible election.

The Home Affairs Advisor praised the BGB’s continued contribution to national security and border protection, calling on the force to remain alert and committed in the days ahead.
