Dhaka, Jan 06 (V7N) – Energy Advisor Fawzul Kabir Khan has accused some retail and wholesale traders of raising the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) through tax evasion, taking advantage of a slight price increase approved by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
He made the remarks on Tuesday afternoon after attending a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement and Economic Affairs at the Secretariat.
According to the advisor, the recent BERC adjustment led to market speculation, with some traders attempting to profit in advance, resulting in abnormal price hikes.
Mr. Khan also said that the government has deployed mobile courts to monitor and ensure price stability in the market.
