Dhaka Jan 20 (V7N) — Youth and Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that Bangladesh will not agree to play in India if unreasonable conditions are imposed, emphasizing that the discussion on changing the venue is based on logical and justified grounds.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday (January 29) afternoon.
Dr. Asif Nazrul said, “I have not heard anything officially that Scotland will be taken away from us. Our main concern is that if the ICC, after discussions with the Indian board, puts pressure on us or imposes any unreasonable conditions, we will not accept those conditions.”
Referring to past precedents, he noted that venue changes are not unprecedented in international cricket.
“There are examples of this happening before. India refused to play in Pakistan, and the ICC changed the venue accordingly. We have raised the issue of changing the venue for very logical reasons,” he said.
The sports advisor stressed that Bangladesh cannot be forced to play in India through undue pressure, reiterating the country’s position on maintaining fairness and respect in international sporting arrangements.
