Dhaka, 17 June 2024- Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Today with a focus on self-purification and a commitment to support others. This celebration of sacrifice is marked by deep spiritual and communal significance. Reflecting on the essence of the festival, national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's poem "Shahidi Eid" urges, "Slaughter the animals of the mind/ Animals also live, everyone lives."

The Muslim community across the country will observe Eid-ul-Azha with religious dignity and solemnity. Following the Eid prayers, devout Muslims will perform the ritual sacrifice of animals, sharing the meat with the less fortunate as an act of charity and solidarity.

On this occasion, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended their heartfelt congratulations and blessings to all Muslims worldwide.

President Md. Sahabuddin expressed hope that Eid-ul-Azha will bring welfare to all and inspire the spirit of sacrifice. He emphasized the importance of considering the plight of people in conflict zones like Gaza, urging the well-off to share Eid's joy with the underprivileged.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted the festival's teachings of peace, compassion, and brotherhood. She urged citizens to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, self-purification, and community support, envisioning a non-sectarian, prosperous Bangladesh.

Preparations for Waste Disposal

Dhaka's city corporations have mobilized over 19,500 workers to ensure efficient removal of sacrificial waste. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has allocated 10,257 workers, while Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has engaged 9,337 workers. Both corporations aim to swiftly manage waste disposal, with DSCC targeting completion within 24 hours and DNCC within six hours.

DSCC has established a central control room to coordinate waste removal, and residents can report issues via designated hotlines. DNCC has also set up a control room and announced incentives for sacrificing animals at designated locations.

Weather Forecast

The Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rain in some areas on Eid morning, but it is not expected to persist throughout the day. Monsoon activity remains moderate, potentially causing discomfort due to excess humidity.

As the nation prepares for Eid-ul-Azha, the spirit of sacrifice and community support will be at the forefront, ensuring that the festival's true essence is celebrated with dignity and compassion.
