Dhaka, July 18— Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (DB) Harun Or Rashid announced on Wednesday that individuals conspiring to divert the quota reform movement in Bangladesh will be arrested soon. This statement was made while inspecting the overall security system at Dhaka University’s TSC.

Addressing reporters, Harun Or Rashid said, "Efforts have been made to channelize the student movement into various sectors. A group is attempting to divert them using money, firearms, batons, and water supplies. We have identified everyone involved, and they will be arrested soon."

He also revealed that seven individuals, including the former president of Chhatra Dal, were arrested on Tuesday. "They have provided us with several names during interrogation," Harun added.

The DB chief emphasized that the protesting students did not engage in arson or vandalism. "A malicious group is conspiring to divert this movement into different sectors," he stated. Harun further highlighted that these conspirators have not only plotted but also engaged in activities such as burning vehicles, removing railway sleepers, attempting to halt Metrorail operations, and committing arson at various locations.

The DMP's firm stance underscores the government's commitment to maintaining law and order amid the ongoing unrest related to the quota reform movement.
