Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N): Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus affirmed today that the government's primary duty is to safeguard the rights of all citizens. Speaking during a meeting with leaders from Bangladesh's Hindu community on Janmastomi, the festival celebrating the birth of Lord Sri Krishna, Dr. Yunus emphasized his commitment to a society where everyone can freely practice their faith without fear.

At the State Guest House Jamuna, Dr. Yunus expressed his vision of a Bangladesh where religious sites are secure and where no one is subjected to discrimination. "Our responsibility is to ensure justice and establish the rights of every citizen," he stated.

The Chief Adviser reassured that the interim government is dedicated to protecting every individual’s rights and fostering unity among the country's diverse population.

During the Janmastomi celebrations, which were partially suspended in flood-affected areas, Hindu leaders conveyed their wishes for national harmony and prosperity, while also providing food and relief to affected regions.

Leaders including Kajal Debnath, Monindra Kumar Nath, Charu Charan Brahmachari, Basudeb Dhar, Santosh Sharma, and Priti Chakraborty commended Dr. Yunus for his recent remarks at Dhakeswari Mandir, highlighting the need for a non-communal society and religious harmony. They also addressed concerns about Hindu property and temple land being unlawfully seized.
