Dhaka, Mar 12 (V7N) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will conduct a workshop on March 16, 2025, to address issues within the e-return filing system and develop suitable solutions. This initiative comes in light of the NBR's efforts to simplify the income tax return filing process, which was made available online starting September 9, 2024, for the fiscal year 2024-2025.

The workshop is scheduled to take place from 2 PM to 3:30 PM at the Multipurpose Hall of the Revenue Board Building in Agargaon, Dhaka. It aims to gather feedback from stakeholders who utilize the e-return system, which has seen significant participation, with over 14.85 lakh taxpayers filing their returns online this year.

The e-return system allows individual taxpayers to submit their income tax returns electronically through the NBR's website, www.etaxnbr.gov.bd. This system enables taxpayers to easily download and print submitted returns, acknowledgment letters, and tax certificates while also facilitating payments via internet banking and mobile banking.

NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan has highlighted the need for improvement in the tax-to-GDP ratio and emphasized that enhancing income tax collection is crucial for meeting the country’s financial demands. The NBR is planning to make online tax return submissions mandatory for all individual and corporate taxpayers in the upcoming fiscal year.

The workshop will focus on identifying existing problems in the e-return system and finding effective solutions to ensure a smoother process for taxpayers. The NBR hopes that by addressing these issues, they can further increase participation in online tax filing and improve overall revenue collection.
