Dhaka, Nov 25 (V7N) — Tensions flared on Monday as students from Kabi Nazrul Government College and Suhrawardy College protested an attack on their campuses by marching toward Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC). Reports of vandalism at DMRC have emerged as the situation escalated.

The protest began around 10 am when students from the two colleges gathered with sticks in front of Bahadur Shah Park, demanding justice after their ultimatum for a resolution went unanswered. By 11:30 am, the protestors advanced toward Raisaheb Bazar, with students from seven different colleges joining the movement.

At approximately 12:30 pm, a group of students began vandalizing DMRC in anger. The protesting students expressed their frustration, stating they had given time to the authorities to address their concerns but saw no action taken.

"We gave an ultimatum from Sunday night to Monday morning, but no steps were taken. Now we are united and determined for justice," said a student from Suhrawardy College.

While students from Kabi Nazrul Government College emphasized their unwillingness to disrupt public life, they reiterated their commitment to responding to the attacks on their peers.

Meanwhile, Kabi Nazrul Government College Principal, Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, made repeated announcements urging students to remain calm.

"Keep calm, we are with you," he said, addressing the students through a microphone. "Yesterday's incident involved intruders, and it seems there are intruders here today as well. A committee from Dhaka University will investigate, and we promise a fair trial for the incident."

The protests follow an attack on the campuses, sparking outrage among students who demand accountability and action against those responsible. Authorities are yet to provide an official resolution as protests continue into the day.
