Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a drive to evict illegal shops and establishments along the road in front of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and Suhrawardy Medical College in the capital.

Led by DNCC Executive Magistrate Saiful Islam, the operation took place on Wednesday morning, during which approximately a hundred shops on both sides of the road were removed.

Locals reported that the presence of these shops on the sidewalks had caused significant inconvenience to pedestrians, making it difficult for them to walk freely. Additionally, the shops caused problems for patients traveling to nearby hospitals, adding to the suffering of those requiring medical attention.

However, shopkeepers whose establishments were demolished raised concerns, alleging that they had not received any prior notice about the drive.

In response, Executive Magistrate Saiful Islam clarified that the drive would continue to ensure that no one occupies the sidewalks again, aiming to alleviate public suffering and maintain the flow of pedestrians, especially around critical healthcare facilities.
