Dhaka, Nov 05 (V7N) — The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all types of meetings, rallies, human chains, sit-ins, processions, seminars, and gatherings from the Bangladesh Secretariat to the residence of the Chief Advisor in Jamuna and surrounding areas.

The notice, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, stated that the ban has been imposed under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) and will be effective from Thursday, November 6, until further notice.

The ban covers the Bangladesh Secretariat and adjacent areas, Chief Advisor’s official residence in Jamuna, Hotel Intercontinental area, Karwan Bazar, Matsya Bhaban, Officers Club, and surrounding Minto Road areas.

The DMP stated that the measure has been taken for security reasons.

Previously, on June 9, a similar notice had prohibited all gatherings near the Secretariat and the Chief Advisor’s residence.
