The center of Cyclonic Storm Remal, currently advancing through the eastern part of Jashore, is expected to reach Dhaka around 3pm today (27 May), according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Azizur Rahman, BMD director, confirmed that Dhaka will experience gusty winds and heavy showers as the storm passes over the city. "The storm will gradually weaken as it moves further inland," he said during a press conference this morning.

He added, "Even though the center of the cyclone will pass over Dhaka, its impact will be limited to rain."

At 6am, wind speeds in Dhaka were recorded at 59 km/h, and the city has experienced 35mm of rainfall since dawn.

The BMD director also noted that the weather in Dhaka is expected to return to normal by tomorrow (28 May).
