Cyclone Remal has prompted the issuance of danger signal number 10 along the Sundarbans coast and in Mongla. Rain and gusty winds have already begun. The storm surge caused by Cyclone Remal has raised water levels, submerging the entire Sundarbans.

Md. Azad Kabir of the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding and Tourism Center in the Eastern Sundarbans Division reported that water levels have risen by 4 feet above normal due to Cyclone Remal, submerging the Sundarbans. He indicated that water pressure is expected to increase further but assured that there is no anticipated harm to wildlife. To mitigate potential damage, all leaves for Sundarbans Division officers and forest rangers have been canceled, and rangers from vulnerable camps have been safely relocated.

Meanwhile, Mongla Mayor Sheikh Abdur Rahman, a heroic freedom fighter, stated that passenger boat operations on the Mongla River have been suspended to avoid risks. However, ferry services remain operational for emergencies and patients. Efforts are underway to bring people to shelters in the municipal town.

Harun-or-Rashid, the officer-in-charge of the Mongla Weather Office, reported that Cyclone Remal is currently located 295 kilometers south of Mongla seaport. It is expected to cross the Sundarbans and Mongla coast and make landfall in Khepupara, Patuakhali, by this evening.
