Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) — Former Aviation Minister Lt. Col. (Retd.) Faruk Khan, former Member of Parliament Sadeq Khan, former Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanvir Saikat, and former Dhaka South City Councilor Hasibur Rahman Manik have been remanded for three days each in connection with the murder of student Shamim.

The four were arrested and presented before the court on Sunday following a case filed by Dhanmondi Police Station. The investigating officer sought a five-day remand for each accused to facilitate detailed interrogation, citing the need for further investigation into their alleged involvement in the case.

During the hearing, defense lawyers argued against the remand request, seeking its cancellation. After hearing arguments from both sides, Metropolitan Magistrate M. Shahin Reza granted a three-day remand for each of the accused.

Public Prosecutor Omar Farooq Farooqi confirmed the court's decision to the media.

This is not the first instance of the accused being remanded, as they have previously been held in custody for questioning in multiple other cases. The Shamim murder case remains under active investigation, with law enforcement aiming to uncover the circumstances leading to the crime.
