Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N) – Md. Alamgir, the chief investigation officer of the July–August crimes against humanity case, has continued his testimony for the third consecutive day against three accused, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He is the 54th and final witness in the case.

Alamgir gave his statement before International Crimes Tribunal-1 at around 11:30 am on Tuesday. His testimony was broadcast live on state-run BTV and the tribunal’s official Facebook page.

In his statement, Alamgir said that during the July–August movement, killings occurred at 438 locations across 41 districts, and deadly weapons were used in more than 50 districts. He alleged that “all killings, injuries, abductions, enforced disappearances, torture, rigged elections and militant dramas over the last 15 years, including during the July movement, were carried out with the sole aim of clinging to power.”

Earlier, on Monday, Alamgir told the tribunal that, according to government estimates, law enforcement forces fired approximately 305,000 rounds during the July unrest.

Meanwhile, Tribunal-2 has adjourned testimony in the case of Abu Sayeed, recognized as the first martyr of the July Movement, as the scheduled witness fell ill. The next hearing has been fixed for Monday.
