Teknaf, July 9 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully apprehended a woman involved in drug trafficking with a massive haul of 81,000 Yaba pills in a special operation in Teknaf on July 9, 2025. In addition to the drugs, BGB forces also recovered 1 lakh taka in cash from the suspect, who was later handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station.
The arrested individual has been identified as Rozina Begum (35), the wife of Sonar Mia from Hatia Guna village in the Sabrang Union of Teknaf.
Details of the Operation:
According to sources, the operation was carried out in the early hours of the night by Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman (PSC), the commander of the Teknaf 2 BGB Battalion, who received a tip-off about a large shipment of drugs being smuggled by sea from Myanmar. The team, under the leadership of Lt. Commander Sadik Rafi, conducted a raid at Sonar Mia’s house located near the mountain range in the remote area of Karachipara, Sabrang Union, Teknaf.
During the raid, BGB forces recovered 81,355 Yaba pills and 101,970 Bangladeshi Taka. However, Sonar Mia, the husband of the arrested woman, managed to escape by fleeing through the hilly terrain, evading capture.

Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman confirmed that the arrested woman was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station along with the seized drugs and cash for further legal processing.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station, Giyas Uddin, stated that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
