After robbing Sonali Bank of Ruma Upazila in Bandarban, armed terrorists also robbed Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Thanchi Upazila.
On Wednesday (April 3) around 1 pm, armed men surrounded Thanchi Bazar.
Later, Thanchi entered the Sonali Bank and the neighboring Krishi Bank and took everyone hostage and ransacked. Later, they snatched the mobile phones of several people in the market and started firing a few rounds of blank bullets.
The manager of Thanchi Upazila branch of Krishi Bank, Hla Swee Twai said, "They entered our bank in the blink of an eye, took everyone hostage in a room and closed the door from outside. But whether they looted the bank money or not will be understood after seeing everything.
Earlier on Tuesday (02 April) at around 9 pm, 70-80 armed terrorists surrounded Ruma Upazila Parishad area. They went to Sonali Bank, snatched weapons from the police and Ansar members guarding them and started beating them. Vandalized and looted the bank. Along with that, the bank manager was kidnapped.
Police Superintendent Saikat Shahin of Bandarban said that locals believe that the new separatist organization Kukichin National Front (KNF) may have done this incident.
