Khagrachari, Oct 07 (V7N) — As Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Sanatan Dharma followers, begins across Bangladesh, preparations are in full swing in Khagrachari. This year, 61 puja mandaps will be organized across the district's nine upazilas. The majority of the idol painting has been completed, with final decorations underway.

In anticipation of large gatherings, the district administration has intensified security efforts to ensure a peaceful celebration. Mobile teams and plainclothes detectives will be deployed at each mandap, while social media platforms are being closely monitored to prevent the spread of misinformation or unrest.

Khagrachari, a region known for its diverse ethnic groups and religious harmony, sees people from all communities come together during major festivals. Durga Puja is no exception, with the Sanatani community expecting a significant turnout this year as well.

Ashok Majumder, President of the Bangladesh Puja Udjakar Parishad's Khagrachari district branch, expressed the community's excitement, stating, “Like every year, we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Mother. We will pray for the happiness and peace of all. We hope to celebrate this Puja in a joyous atmosphere with people from all communities participating.”

District Commissioner Md. Sahiduzzaman and Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel visited the district headquarters to review preparations at various pujamandaps. The Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary administrative measures have been taken, stating, “We have held preparation meetings and provided instructions to ensure a smooth celebration. The monitoring teams are actively working, and we are confident the puja will be conducted harmoniously.”

To support the festivities, the district administration has distributed 31 tons of food grains to the 61 puja mandaps. Additionally, financial assistance of 610,000 BDT was provided by the Khagrachari Sadar Zone of the army, and 152,000 BDT from the Hindu Welfare Trust.

Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel confirmed that adequate security arrangements have been made, with 34 of the 61 mandaps identified
