Khagrachari, Oct 08 (V7N) — The ban on tourist travel to the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) will be lifted soon, according to Supradeep Chakma, Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts to the Interim Government. Speaking at a harmony rally organized at the Dighinala Upazila Parishad Community Center in Khagrachari on Tuesday morning, the adviser reassured that discussions with the Home Affairs Advisor in Dhaka would lead to a quick decision regarding the resumption of tourism in the region.

Supradeep Chakma expressed concern over recent incidents where tourists were stranded in Sajek, which he said has caused embarrassment to the government and affected its image. "The government is considering all aspects and is committed to lifting the ban to avoid further inconveniences," he said.

Addressing the communal violence in Dighinala on September 19, Supradeep Chakma urged people not to take the law into their own hands and assured that justice would be served to those responsible for the unrest. During the event, financial aid was distributed to victims, with fire victims receiving 25,000 taka each, victims of vandalism receiving 20,000 taka, and 1 lakh taka given to the families of the deceased.

The rally was attended by several key officials, including Kangkan Chakma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Khagrachari Deputy Commissioner Sahiduzzaman, and Superintendent of Police Arifin Jewel, among others.

The recent ban on travel to Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachari, which has been in effect from October 8 and is set to continue until October 31, followed incidents of communal violence in Khagrachari and Rangamati. The unrest has resulted in four deaths and hundreds of injuries, along with growing public fear in the region.
