Savar, December 5, (v7N) Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman has expressed his optimism about the role of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) in shaping the nation's future. Speaking at the inauguration of a new academic building at the BNCC Training Academy in Bypile, Savar, the army chief highlighted the organization's ongoing contributions to societal and national development.
In his address, General Waqar-uz-Zaman lauded the BNCC members' involvement in ensuring security and public order alongside the armed forces. He noted their pivotal role in managing crises, including aiding flood victims and performing traffic control duties, particularly after the events of August 5.
The ceremony began with a guard of honor presented by cadets from the BNCC Army, Naval, and Insurance Wings. Following this, the Army Chief unveiled the inaugural plaque, planted a commemorative tree, and participated in special prayers for the welfare of the nation.
Other distinguished attendees included Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, Chief of General Staff; Major General Md. Masudur Rahman, Adjutant General; Major General Md. Moin Khan, General Officer Commanding of the Ninth Infantry Division; and Brigadier General Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director General of BNCC. Several senior military and civilian officials and BNCC personnel were also present.
Earlier in the day, General Waqar-uz-Zaman participated in the Annual Captain's Conference at the CMP Center in Savar Cantonment.
