Khagrachari, Dec 14 (V7N)- In the lead-up to the grand celebration of Victory Day, Khagrachari has witnessed a surge in the sale of national flags. From morning to evening, vendors can be seen traversing neighborhoods, alleys, and city streets, selling red-green flags that symbolize the spirit of independence.

Houses, balconies, cars, rickshaws, and even bicycles are adorned with the national flag, reflecting a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere across the hill town. Vendors from other districts have also joined local sellers in the city, creating a festive market for flags of all shapes and sizes.

Stories Behind the Sellers

One flag vendor shared his seasonal occupation, saying, "I take up any work I can find during the year. But in December, the month of victory, everyone buys flags, and the business thrives. So, I focus on selling flags during this time."

Amir Hossain, a 30-year-old fish seller from Chittagong, has been traveling to different districts to sell flags every December. This year, he chose Khagrachari after selling in Rangpur last year. Speaking near the Khagrachari Central Shaheed Minar, Amir said, "This is my way of earning extra income while exploring new places. I’ve already sold flags in 28 districts."

Buyers Join the Celebration

Zahirul, a visitor to Khagrachari, purchased two flags for 40 taka, tying one around his forehead and giving the other to a friend. He said the flags help them embody the joyous spirit of Victory Day.

Flags of All Sizes

The vendors revealed that flags are being sold in various sizes and price ranges, from small paper flags costing 10 taka to larger ones priced up to 500 taka. These options cater to a wide range of buyers, ensuring everyone can participate in the Victory Day celebrations.

As December 16 approaches, the streets of Khagrachari are alive with patriotic fervor, with the red-green flags serving as a proud reminder of the nation's triumph and the sacrifices that made independence possible.
