Tangail, Dec 16 (V7N)- Tangail celebrated the great Victory Day with dignity and enthusiasm through various programs, paying tribute to the martyrs and honoring the spirit of Bangladesh’s liberation.
Morning Ceremonies
The day began with the firing of 31 cannons at sunrise. Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque placed floral tributes at the Martyr's Monument in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on behalf of the state, the Freedom Fighters Command, and the District Council.
Subsequent tributes were offered by:
- Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu on behalf of the District Police
- Administrator Shihab Raihan on behalf of the Municipality
- Members of the Freedom Fighters' Sons' Association
- Various government offices and organizations
Official Flag Hoisting and Bijoy Mela
At 9:30 am, the national flag was officially hoisted at the Shaheed Smriti Pillar. This was followed by the inauguration of the Bijoy Mela (Victory Fair) at the public service square adjacent to the District Commissioner's office.
At 10:00 am, a discussion meeting was held at the District Shilpakala Academy to honor the brave freedom fighters, with speeches reflecting on their sacrifices and the significance of Victory Day.
Programs by Political, Social, and Cultural Organizations
Victory Day events in Tangail included a wide array of programs organized by various groups, such as:
- The District BNP and other political parties
- Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University
- Social and cultural organizations
The programs included cultural performances, discussions, and prayers for the souls of the martyrs, highlighting the valor and sacrifice that led to the nation’s liberation.
Tangail's Victory Day celebrations united people from all walks of life in remembrance of the past and hope for a prosperous and united future for Bangladesh.
