Pabna, Dec 23 (V7N)- As December 25 approaches, the Christian communities in Pabna are brimming with festive enthusiasm to celebrate Christmas, the biggest religious festival for Christians. Villages across the district are being adorned with colorful decorations, Christmas trees, and representations of the Bethlehem stable where Jesus Christ was born.

Festive Spirit and Community Preparations

Residents are actively involved in preparations, including house decorations, arranging traditional foods like pithapuli and payesh, and hosting relatives who have traveled from other parts of the country to join the celebrations.

Chameli Rita De Costa, a resident of Mission Housepara, shared, “We have decorated and illuminated every house, replicating the cowshed in Bethlehem to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Our preparations are complete.”
Similarly, Reena Barman highlighted the joy of hosting relatives, adding, “We have finished Christmas shopping and prepared various dishes for the guests.”

Church Programs and Cultural Events

The Pabna Baptist Church has organized a series of six-day events, including processions, pre-Christmas festivals, Christmas worship services, cultural programs, and culinary feasts. General Secretary Uttam Das expressed his hopes for a peaceful celebration with administrative cooperation.

Pastor Ishaq Sarkar emphasized the spiritual essence of the occasion, saying, “We celebrate Christmas with the hope for a world free from division and unrest.” Pastor Binesh Tigya from Mathurapur Dharmapalli added, “This Christmas fills us with the hope that Lord Jesus Christ will return to this world.”

Enhanced Security Measures

Pabna's law enforcement agencies have implemented strict security protocols to ensure the celebrations proceed peacefully. Additional Superintendent of Police Kazi Shahnewaz stated that Christmas prayers will be held in 22 churches across the district, with uniformed and plainclothes police deployed to maintain security and gather advance intelligence.

As the Christian community in Pabna comes together to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the festive preparations reflect their shared hope for peace, unity, and joy during this significant occasion.
