Feb 24 (V7N) - Ripon Uddin, an entrepreneur at the DBGram Union Digital Center in Chatmohar Upazila, Pabna, has accused several individuals of forcibly removing him from his position.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Monday (February 24) at the DBGram Union Digital Center. Ripon has since filed a written complaint with the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO), seeking justice against five individuals.
According to the complaint, Ripon Uddin, son of Makbul Hossain of Kanthalbaria village, has been working as a digital entrepreneur at DBGram Union Parishad for 16 years. His entrepreneur ID is 76-22-25-01-01.
Ripon alleges that the accused:
Ujjal Hossain (Old Dhanbila village)
Saiful Islam (Dayrampur village)
Mahabubul Alam (Koyrapara village, Danthia; expelled general secretary of DBGram Union Volunteers' Party)
Sarwar Hossain (Khairash village)
Shamsul Arefin (Secretary of DBGram Union Parishad)
Forcefully removed him from the Digital Entrepreneur Center, using abusive language, threats, and physical intimidation. They then locked the center, shutting down its operations. The accused allegedly appointed Mahabubul Alam as the new Digital Information Center entrepreneur.
Mahabubul Alam claimed that he had received a five-year contract from Chatmohar UNO on November 10 last year. He stated:
"Ripon was in the position before, but I have been given the new contract. The UP Chairman also certified my appointment. Since I was unfamiliar with the responsibilities, the UNO asked the Union Parishad Secretary to explain them to me. No one forcibly removed Ripon."
DBGram Union Parishad Secretary Shamsul Arefin added:
"Mahabubul signed a contract under the previous UNO. I repeatedly asked Ripon to explain the responsibilities, but he did not comply. Recently, the new UNO also ordered me to clarify the duties to Mahabubul. Today, I followed that directive. Ripon and I locked the center to prevent unauthorized access. The UNO will visit tomorrow to resolve the issue."
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury stated:
"Since the previous UNO approved the contract, it is legally binding. I have reviewed the agreement, and everything appears in order. However, as a complaint has been filed, I will personally visit the Union Parishad tomorrow. The issue will be resolved following legal procedures."
The situation remains tense, with both parties awaiting the UNO's visit and final decision.
