Pabna, Mar 05 (V7N) – As part of a central program, diploma doctors in Pabna held a press conference demanding the implementation of their four-point demands.
The press conference took place on Wednesday (March 5) at the VIP auditorium of Pabna Press Club. It was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Diploma Medical Association, Bangladesh Diploma Medical Private Practitioners Association, and General MATS Unity Council, Pabna District Branch.
Dr. Matiur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Diploma Medical Association, Pabna District Branch, read out the written statement. General Secretary Dr. Zahurul Islam and other diploma doctors were also present.
According to the statement, around 50,000 skilled DMF (Diploma in Medical Faculty) graduates remain unemployed due to a lack of job opportunities. Even after 53 years of independence, MATS (Medical Assistant Training School) students continue to face discrimination and deprivation. Despite years of protests, authorities have taken no steps to resolve these issues. Recruitment for vacant positions has been halted for over a decade, depriving marginalized populations of healthcare services while increasing unemployment among MATS graduates. The diploma doctors urged the government to take immediate action, warning of stricter movements if their demands were not met.
The Four-Point Demands:
Immediate recruitment for vacant positions and the creation of new posts in community clinics and public-private hospitals.
Correction of inconsistent course curricula, including renaming institutions and courses and introducing an internship logbook.
Right to higher education in clinical subjects with recognition from BM&DC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council).
Amendment of the proposed Allied Health Professional Board draft law, renaming it "Medical Education Board of Bangladesh" and implementing necessary modifications.
Diploma doctors emphasized that if their demands are not met, they will launch tougher protests in the coming days.
