Robber arrested in joint operation by Bangladesh Navy in Teknaf

Teknaf, Mar 06 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Navy, in a joint operation with the police, arrested the notorious robber Abul Khair and his female accomplice Kohinoor from Teknaf’s Hnila Union in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday night.

The operation, conducted in the Rangikhali and Lamarpara areas, was part of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to maintain national security and uphold law and order. Abul Khair is a wanted criminal involved in multiple cases, including murder, drug trafficking, smuggling, and kidnapping.


The Bangladesh Navy’s Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS) participated in the operation alongside two sections of naval personnel. Sensing the presence of the joint forces, Abul Khair attempted to escape by jumping into a water body but was quickly apprehended by naval special forces and personnel.

Based on his information, a follow-up raid was conducted in the Baguna area of Ward No 3 of Whykong Union in Teknaf Upazila. During this operation, Kohinoor, a female drug dealer and associate of Abul Khair, was arrested along with yaba tablets and several locally-made weapons.

Police sources revealed that the detained robber has a history of involvement in various crimes, with eight prior cases registered against him, including murder, abduction, drug trafficking, smuggling, and robbery.

The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered drugs and weapons, have been handed over to the local police station for further legal action.

It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Navy’s anti-crime operations are ongoing as part of the government’s directives to ensure national security and curb criminal activities.
