Tangail, Mar 26 (V7N) – Tangail observed Independence and National Day with a series of commemorative events, including wreath-laying ceremonies, parades, and receptions honoring freedom fighters.

"Tangail Independence and National Day was celebrated through various programs including wreath laying, parade and reception of freedom fighters," a local event organizer confirmed.

The day commenced with a 31-gun salute at sunrise in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, marking the solemn occasion.

"The day began with 31 gunshots at sunrise in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday," a city official reported.

Following the salute, Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman, freedom fighters, and representatives from various political, social, and cultural organizations paid their respects by laying wreaths at the Liberation War Memorial.

"Later, Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman, freedom fighters, various political-social and cultural organizations laid wreaths at the Liberation War Memorial," a memorial attendee stated.

A parade and physical exercise demonstration, organized by the district administration, were held at the Tangail Shaheed Maruf Stadium. Students from various schools and colleges, along with members of the District Police and Ansar-VDP, participated in the event.

Separately, the Tangail District BNP, led by President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen and General Secretary Farhad Iqbal, placed wreaths at the martyr's altar at the city's Shahid Smriti Municipal Park.

Various political, social, and voluntary organizations also paid floral tributes to the martyrs, highlighting the widespread participation in the day's commemorations.
