Islamic University, Mar 26 (V7N) – Islamic University (IU) marked the 55th Independence Day with a series of respectful and commemorative events, honoring the nation's history and its heroes.
"The authorities of Islamic University (IU) today observed the 55th Independence Day with due respect and in a befitting manner," a university official confirmed.
The day's observances began at 10:00 AM with the hoisting of the national flag in front of the administration building. University leadership, including Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Yakub Ali, Treasurer Dr. Jahangir Alam, and Acting Registrar Monzurul Haque, participated in the ceremony.
"The day's events commenced at 10:00 AM with the hoisting of the national flag in front of the administration building by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Yakub Ali. Treasurer Dr. Jahangir Alam and Acting Registrar Monzurul Haque were also present during the flag-hoisting ceremony," a university spokesperson reported.
Simultaneously, the university's residential halls also hoisted the national flag, demonstrating a unified campus-wide observance.

At approximately 10:15 AM, a colorful procession proceeded from the administration building to the campus's memorial monument, where wreaths were laid to honor the martyrs of the Liberation War.

In a separate segment of the commemoration, university authorities also paid homage to the declarer of independence and martyred President Ziaur Rahman by placing a wreath on his foundation stone, followed by prayers for his eternal peace.

The university also organized Qurankhani and Dua Mahfil sessions to pray for the departed souls of those who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War.
