The visit comes during the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, a four-day event that kicked off on Monday (April 7) to showcase the country's investment potential and economic reforms following the recent popular uprising.
The investor group includes:
-
10 representatives from China
-
8 from the United States
-
3 from Japan
-
3 from Saudi Arabia
-
8 expatriate Bangladeshis
-
4 others from various countries
Upon arrival at the BSEZ, the delegation was briefed by the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone Limited authorities on the current investment landscape, ongoing developments, and the region's strategic advantages. The investors are inspecting logistical infrastructure, product supply systems, and work environment standards throughout the day.
As a significant development, Swedish company Nilorn has signed an agreement to acquire a 10,000-square-meter plot in the economic zone, marking a promising start for European investments in the BSEZ. Officials expressed optimism that this move would encourage other foreign and domestic investors to follow suit.
Organizers noted that the visit is part of a broader initiative to present the "before and after" of Bangladesh's economic reforms and highlight sustainable, secure investment environments.
Notably, Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is expected to inaugurate the main session of the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 on April 9. The summit features discussions on startups, networking, matchmaking, and a final investment summit aimed at fostering long-term collaborations between domestic and international business entities.
