Rangamati, Apr 26 (V7N)- Five people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Rubber Bagan area under Chairman Para Betbunia Union of Kaukhali Upazila, Rangamati. The tragic accident occurred around 11 AM on Saturday (April 26).
According to eyewitnesses, the autorickshaw was hit by the pickup van on the Rangamati-Chittagong Road, leaving three passengers dead on the spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital, while one passenger remains injured. All of the deceased were passengers of the autorickshaw.

Torab Ali (50), driver, resident of Ward No. 9, Dalarmukh, Raozan

Nurnahar Begum (40), resident of Ward No. 8, Monartek, Betbunia

Yusuf Chowdhury (60), resident of Chattarghat area, Ichapur, Hathazari
The identities of the remaining two victims are yet to be confirmed.
Kaukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam Sohag said police rushed to the spot upon receiving information. "The bodies are being sent to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy. Legal proceedings are underway," he added.
This accident once again highlights the urgent need for stricter road safety measures on the hilly roads of Rangamati and surrounding districts.
