Rangamati, June 25 (V7N): - A meeting of the District Task Force Committee on birth and death registration was held in Rangamati to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of civil registration services. The meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah (Maruf) presiding over the session.

Participants included representatives from various government departments, local government bodies, the health and family planning sector, development organizations, and members of the media. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of making the birth and death registration process more transparent, efficient, and well-coordinated across all unions and municipalities within the district. He directed relevant authorities to strengthen monitoring and supervision mechanisms to ensure consistency and reliability in registration activities.

The discussion focused on key challenges such as low public awareness, delays in data entry and verification, lack of inter-agency coordination, and limited access to online registration services, especially in remote and underserved areas. Emphasis was also placed on updating digital information systems and promoting the widespread use of online platforms for registration.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that accurate and timely birth and death registration is not only a legal obligation but also a critical component in accessing essential public services, supporting development planning, and safeguarding fundamental rights. The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to take proactive steps toward improving the overall quality and accessibility of civil registration services throughout Rangamati.
