Mongla, Dec 26 (V7N) – Christmas prayers and celebrations were held across 39 churches in Mongla, with members of the Christian community participating in religious services and festive programs. Prayer sessions were organized on Christmas Eve night, followed by additional services on Wednesday morning.
Festive activities were observed in different areas of Mongla as Christian families celebrated the occasion with devotion and joy. Christian neighborhoods were adorned with extensive decorative lighting, adding to the celebratory environment.
On the occasion of Christmas, greetings were extended to the Christian community by BNP’s Mongla–Rampal parliamentary seat aspirant Lion Dr Sheikh Faridul Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Advocate Maulana Sheikh Abdul Wadud, NCP candidate Mollah Rahmatullah, and Mongla Municipality BNP President Md Zulfikar Ali.
To ensure the celebrations remained peaceful and uninterrupted, the local administration implemented strict security measures. Law enforcement agencies were deployed around churches and residential areas with Christian populations.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Akter Sumi said that various churches were inspected on Wednesday afternoon and evening. She added that greetings were exchanged with members of the Christian community and that overall security arrangements were strengthened to ensure the safe observance of Christmas.
The celebrations concluded peacefully, reflecting communal harmony and cooperation among residents of Mongla.
