Barguna, Dec 26 (V7N) – The Barguna Press Club concluded its 2026 executive committee elections on Thursday, with prominent journalists elected unopposed to key positions. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, district correspondent for Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Daily Bangladesher Khobor, was elected president, while Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh, senior reporter at Channel 24 and Barguna correspondent for Daily Samakal, was elected general secretary.

The club’s 47th Annual General Meeting for 2025 was held at its own auditorium at 10 am, where members gathered for discussions and formalities. The election results were officially announced by the election commission later in the evening.

Moinul Abedin Sumon, correspondent of Daily Ittefaq in Barguna, was elected senior vice president, while Malek Mithu, DBC Television’s Barguna correspondent, secured the position of joint general secretary.

The election process was overseen by former president of Barguna Press Club, Zakir Hossain Miraz, serving as chief election commissioner. Riaz Ahmed Musa and Saiful Islam Miraz served as election commissioners, ensuring a transparent and orderly election.

The newly elected executive committee is expected to continue fostering journalistic integrity, promoting professional development, and organizing activities for the local media community in Barguna. The peaceful and unopposed election highlights the strong consensus and respect among the press fraternity in the district.
